A tried and true classic in our home.

  • Heated water or a microwave oven
  • Something suitable to stir with

Ingredients

  • 1/2 mug hot water
  • 1/2 mug evaporated milk (canned milk, not sweetened milk)
  • 2, 3, or more heaping t NesQuik or similar chocolate powder

Directions

  1. Either poor hot water into the mug or add water to the mug and heat it in the microwave
  2. Stir in the chocolate powder
  3. Add the evaporated milk and stir

Optional

You may add marshmallows, cinnamon, or other items to your hot chocolate before serving, but I like this one just like it is.

This is designed for one cup at a time, and is flexible depending on the size of your mug or cup.

Better Instant Hot Chocolate

A better tasting version of the normal instant hot chocolate.

Things You Need

  • Cup or mug
  • Heated water or a microwave oven
  • Something suitable to stir with
Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 6 oz very hot water
  • 1 packet or serving of hot chocolate mix

Directions

  1. Start with one third to one half of the water in the mug using either very hot water or add half of the water to the mug and heat it in the microwave
  2. Thoroughly stir in all the chocolate powder
  3. Let the mix sit for a minute or two then stir again
  4. Repeat the waiting and stiring a few times, taking as much as 15 minutes
  5. Add the rest of the hot water
  6. Adjust the temperature as desired

Optional

You may add marshmallows, cinnamon, or other items to your hot chocolate before serving. A little milk works well too.

By far my favorite is the Brigham Creek chocolate mix. You can find this at a "Family Home Storage" Center.

The normal way to drink instant hot chocolate is to mix it then drink it. This does not give the flavor time to grow. Start very hot and let it mellow, stiring now and then. The flavor of even the cheapest mix will be better with time.
